International Mother Language Day marked at AWKUM

MARDAN: The Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) organized a seminar here on Monday to observe the International Mother Language Day 2022.
The seminar was held under the auspices of the Department of Pashto, AWKUM which was attended by a number of poets, writers, intellectuals, artists, activists, students and faculty members of the Pashto departments of different universities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Prof Dr Saeed-ul-Islam, Director Academics, AWKUM, presided over the function, whereas the Dean, Faculty of Arts, Prof Dr Tahir, Chairman, Department of Pashto, Dr Syed Zafar Ullah Bakhshali and Director Pashto Academy, University of Peshawar, Prof Dr Nasrullah Jan Wazir and others were among the participants.
Speaking at the seminar, Dr Syed Zafar Ullah Bakhshali stressed on the need for the preservation of Pashto language and literature, saying that academia, government, writers and poets should focus on the promotion of the mother languages of all communities as communication and education in mother tongue could lead the society towards progress and development.
While addressing the audience, the speakers urged the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government to implement the Pashto curriculum from 1st to 12th grade in the educational institutions of the province. Meanwhile, a resolution was also passed and the government was demanded to establish Pashto departments in all the universities of KP.
