PESHAWAR: The Khyber Union of Journalists and other local and national journalistic organizations have strongly condemned the lodging of FIR against senior journalist Hazrat Khan Mohmand by Assistant Commissioner Habibullah Wazir and Tehsildar Muhammad Adnan at Bezai Police Station, district Mohmand and demanded the KP Government to take the FIR back and ensure the safety of journalists.
The journalistic associations on Friday expressed their reservations over the negative behavior of the district administration Mohmand and said that an impartial inquiry must be carried out into the incident and strong action be taken against those officials who registered the FIR against Hazrat Khan Mohmand in the line of duty.
“The government and the authorities concerned should ensure the freedom of press as journalism is not a crime but a sacred duty for which journalists pay too much every time,” the journalist bodies urged.
Here, it is to be mentioned that Hazrat Khan Mohmand is a Peshawar-based senior journalist who is very famous for his bold reporting. He has been serving the media for the last 3 decades.
