PESHAWAR: Senior Pashto writer and poet Prof Dr Abaseen Yousafzai in a statement issued here on Tuesday said that national cricket fame Fakhar Zaman had offered that he would extend financial assistance to deserving poets and writers hailing from district Mardan including his hometown Katlang to bring out their works.
Poets and writers had been invited through a social media message to submit their unpublished manuscripts by December 31, 2021 on Post Box No 786, University of Peshawar. A five-member committee would be formed for the evaluation of the manuscripts for final publication, said the statement.
When contacted, Prof Dr Abaseen Yousafzai told this scribe that the offer came up during a recent book launch event of Fakhar Zaman’s poet father held at Katlang where he (Abaseen) was the chief guest of the event.
“Fakhar Zaman has asked me to spread a message on his behalf inviting deserving poets and writers to submit their works gathering dust since long because they could not afford to bring them out,” Prof Dr Abaseen Yousafzai stated.
