World Environment Day marked by DoST

PESHAWAR: The Directorate General of Science and Technology (DoST) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa commemorated the World Environment Day 2021 with zest and zeal here on Tuesday.
In this regard, a seminar was arranged under the title: ‘Science, Technology and Innovation for Ecosystem Restoration’ at the newly established KP Innovation Park to highlight the role and efforts of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for global environment.
The main objective of the seminar was to increase awareness about technological solutions to environmental challenges and elaborate the contribution of DoST through its indigenously developed technologies for environmental protection as well as the scope for research and development for new technologies.
On the occasion, the Director General, DoST, Dr Khalid Khan emphasized on scientific and technological advancement to safeguard our environment from multiple hazards and issues, adding that the DoST had always been supporting research and innovation regarding different types of problems as it was their prime duty to serve the society in the best public interest.
Abid Sohail, Deputy Director, DoST, Dr Asif Khan Khattak, Department of Environmental Sciences, University of Peshawar, Dr Muhammad Zubair, Khushal Khan Khattak University, Karak and Ghazala Ali Khan, Deputy Director, Pakistan Scientific and Technological Information Center, also addressed the participants.
