PESHAWAR: Owing to increase in the number of passengers, the TransPeshawar has decided to increase the number of buses in the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service.
According to the spokesman of TransPeshawar, the reopening of educational institutions has also caused an increase in the number of BRT passengers. “Nowadays an average of 1,75,000 passengers travel in the BRT on daily basis and 30 new buses would reach Peshawar soon,” he added.
He spokesman said that the new buses would be used on both the feeder and express routes. He also appealed the passengers to follow the Coronavirus SOPs while travelling in the BRT service.
It may be mentioned here that the BRT has benefited the middle class as many people prefer to travel in it while the taxicabs have now fewer passengers and the cabdrivers’ earning had got affected.
Also, the Peshawar High Court has recently asked the authorities concerned to arrange separate routes for taxicabs and other public transport. In a recent judgment, the Court said that there should be separate route for other public transport so that people would not have problems in commute in case the BRT service gets suspended due to some issue.
