PMC gets 150 seats in first year of MBBS

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Medical College (PMC), Peshawar has become the first private medical college in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to receive 150 seats in the first year of MBBS program from the Pakistan Medical Commission, Islamabad.
This was expressed by the renowned ophthalmologist and Dean PMC Prof Dr Hafeez-ur-Rehman along with Prof Dr Aman Khan, Prof Dr Irfan, Dr Iftikhar Hussain and Prof Dr Saeed Anwar at a joint press briefing at the PMC here on Thursday.
Prof Dr Hafeez-ur-Rehman said that PMC had been recognized by all the national and international bodies, including HEC, PMC, HERA and WHO, and PMC was working under the supervision of these bodies, adding that 1038 well-trained doctors had graduated during the last 15 years from PMC, including 481 doctors who had done very well in postgraduate examinations at home and abroad.
He stated that in a nationwide inspection of medical colleges conducted by the former PMDC in July 2019, the PMC obtained A+ grade with a score of 89.67 percent and became the first among private medical colleges in the province. He added that PMC had integrated modular education in medical teaching in the province and it paid special attention to research.
Prof Hafeez-ur-Rehman further said that hardworking and capable teachers were the greatest strength of PMC. “We have a number of highly qualified and committed faculty which far exceed the requirements of the Pakistan Medical Commission,” he maintained.
