First grader from Swat advocates environmental protection

PESHAWAR: Born with gifted qualities the outspoken six-year old Salar Khan and first grader from Swat has attracted attention of many on social media and even mainstream TV channels due to his mature thoughts and actions that only befit a grown up individuals. According to his father Samiullah, he spent much of his time purposefully and loved to behave maturely when it came to social activities.
Salar Khan has become a role model for little school going kids owing to his good habits and positive attitude and parents have started showing videos of Salar Khan to their children to learn from him, said father of the talent child.
Salar Khan is recipient of Fakhre Malakand award and several other laurels for his extra-ordinary talents. The poem ‘I am raised on footpath’ earned him an unprecedented fame on the social media. “Salar Khan’s videos for social awareness have become a trend for school children,” his teacher told this scribe.
“Salar Khan can scale heights of creative success if gets access to quality education in a big city school, I appeal to CM Mahmood Khan to helps us better educate this talented son of Swat,” father Samiullah pleaded.
Recently he released a video message on social media appealing people to keep Pakistan clean and green and take efforts to protect environment to avoid hazards of climate change. Also he has asked masses to follow standard operating procedures to counter the second wave of Covid-19 and even distributed masks to on duty traffic police officials on the road.
Salar Khan has varied tastes but enjoys a special flair for memorizing long poems of Pashto poets carrying strong social messages. In a chat with scribe he spoke on a number of things, including his hobbies, study routine and social activism. “When I was three years old I begin taking interest in memorization of poems that contained some message for people irrespective of its length. I love cartoons and sports that enable young students to critically think and raise questions,” Salar Khan explained.
I hate when I see people throwing wraps on the road or in the streets and damaging plants and flowers, he said, adding that children should participate in awareness campaigns regarding cleanliness and protection of environment to keep ourselves away from the hazards of climate change.
“I love to read poems of Bakhtzada Danish, Zameer Khan and Munir Orakzai because their poems help us do something that should benefit our thoughts and actions for a better society. I regularly follow my study routine along with sports and social activism.”
“I want to become a doctor but not like those who fleece poor patients. In cricket Shahid Afridi is my ideal but in social work I follow Abdul Sattar Edhi who was a great human being. I keep balance between my study, sports and social activities. I love clean environment, natural beauty and good people around me. I like to play games with children of my age but always prefer to lead the group,” Salar Khan said with a mischievous smile.
