World Heart Day marked at LRH

PESHAWAR: The Lady Reading Hospital (MTI-LRH), Peshawar has observed the World Heart Day 2020 here on Thursday.
In this regard, a seminar was arranged, wherein Prof Dr Hafizullah was the chief guest, while administrative officers, doctors, paramedics and nurses of the LRH as well as a number of people from different walks of life participated on the occasion.
While addressing the audience, the chief guest said that timely diagnosis and treatment of heart diseases was very important but at the same time prevention was also the need of the hour, adding that in order to avoid heart diseases, lifestyle modification was very crucial, whereas regular exercise and good eating habits should also be adopted.
The Head of Cardiology Unit, LRH Dr Faisal Iftikhar stated that LRH was the only public sector hospital which provided TPM wire facility to heart attack patients within the Emergency CCU which had helped a lot in saving the lives of heart attack patients.
After the seminar, doctors of the Cardiology Unit distributed gifts among the patients and also gave them useful advices regarding cardiac health. Meanwhile, an awareness walk was conducted in which a large number of doctors, nurses and paramedics participated.
Here it is to be mentioned that according to the LRH spokesman Muhammad Asim, about 6,000 heart patients are treated in the Emergency and OPD sections of LRH every month.
