PPAF, UoM join hands to empower youth

ISLAMABAD: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) and University of Malakand (UoM) here on Thursday to support the university students in their endeavors by accelerating the socio-economic development in their respective areas.
According to a press release issued here on Friday, the partnership focuses at involving and encouraging the local youth to further strengthen the prospects of integrated development by working on innovative themes primarily in the areas where PPAF is implementing the Program for Poverty Reduction funded by the Italian Government through the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS).
As per the MoU, the PPAF will link the university students to a youth engagement communication initiative for sustainable community self-development through a Pakistani-Italian liaison wherein universities will be fostered by an Italian university (managed by PPAF) to liaise with other Italian institutes.
While speaking on the occasion, the CEO, PPAF Qazi Azmat Isa said, “The youth of Pakistan have immense potential, they have a drive to bring a positive change, and we want to leverage this passion by providing them the right platforms. I am confident that the students of the Malakand University will greatly benefit from the partnership and will get to learn about innovative methods in order to address various socio-economic needs of the vulnerable communities.”
The Vice Chancellor, UoM Prof Dr Gul Zaman appreciated the initiative of PPAF and assured his full cooperation to achieve the objective. “We are already working through involvement of the youth in few similar interventions and this mutual cooperation will further strengthen the efforts and will help the youngsters to discover new ways by which they can bring a positive change in their respective fields,” he stated.
