PESHAWAR: The Intellectuals Forum – a representative body of the Peshawar University’s teachers has announced to protest against the ban on appointments in the University on Monday, 13th June at 10:30 am.
A meeting of the Intellectuals Forum was held on Friday in which a large number of members of the forum participated and expressed their concerns over the situation of ban on appointments. They were of the view that the teachers’ community was still looking forward to PUTA for playing role in lifting the ban, however, due to the PUTA president’s false promises the situation became worst and the summary was still in the HED with no progress.
The participants said that they had lost their hopes as expecting something good for the teaching fraternity from the present setup of PUTA was just like living in the fools’ paradise, adding that the teachers’ community could not be left at the mercy of PUTA anymore and it was the time to highlight this issue.
They further stated that a protest walk from PUTA Hall to Administration Block at the University would be organised under the auspices of the Intellectuals Forum on Monday at 10:30 am, because, if they would not raise their voice then a number of lecturers would lose their jobs as their contracts would be ended by this month, if not renewed.
