PESHAWAR: The Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan has said that the entire nation highly values the selfless and tireless efforts of the doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers who were saving the lives of others at the risk of their own, adding that the government fully realized their problems and from the very first day result-oriented steps had been taken to address the issues being faced by them and to a great extent the results were good in this regard, but efforts were being made to further improve the situation.
He expressed these views while talking to a delegation of the Insaaf Doctors Forum (IDF) at CM Secretariat on Wednesday. Various matters related to Corona pandemic and especially the precautionary measures during Eid were discussed in the meeting. The delegation was led by MPA Dr Sumaira Shams, whereas Dr Sajjad Dawar, Dr Mushtaq, Dr Nabi Jan, Dr Ajmid, Dr Rehmat Mohmand and Dr Tariq Babar were also in attendance.
The Chief Minister said that as a precautionary measure, he would not receive people at his residence for Eid greetings and similarly all the provincial ministers and members of the provincial assembly would also be asked to strictly follow the same rule. He said that removing all deficiencies in the healthcare system regarding Corona pandemic would be the top priority of the government, adding that in the upcoming budget special attention would be paid to the availability of required human resources, medical equipments and essential medicines in all the public sector hospitals of the province.
Responding to the demand of the delegation for granting risk allowance to frontline health workers, he said that the government was already giving serious consideration to the matter. “In the upcoming budget, Sehat Insaaf Card program will be extended to 100% population of the province to ensure free-of-cost quality healthcare services to the people of the province,” he remarked.
