Shah Nawaz Khan defends Ph.D thesis

PESHAWAR: Shah Nawaz Khan, a research scholar of the Centre for Disaster Preparedness and Management, University of Peshawar successfully defended his Ph.D thesis on Tuesday.
In this connection a functioned was arranged in which he defended his research work by answering the questions of the audience in a proper way. Faculty members, research scholars, students and people from all walks of life participated on the occasion.
The research scholar worked on “Assessment of Flash Flood Risk along Budhni Nullah, District Peshawar, Pakistan” under the supervision of Prof Dr Amir Nawaz Khan. He assessed the chances of flood risk in Budhni Nullah for 5, 10, 50 and 100 year return periods. Furthermore, he estimated the losses to houses, agriculture and other sectors that may occur in future with such damages and destruction.
Dr Ainuddin, Chairman, Department of Disaster Management and Developmental Studies, University of Balochistan, Quetta, Prof Dr Gul Muhammad, COMSATS, Islamabad and Dr Atta-ur-Rahman, Department of Geography, University of Peshawar, were the examiners of the scholar, whereas Prof Dr Noor Jehan, Director, Centre for Disaster Preparedness and Management, University of Peshawar chaired the thesis defence function.
