UET, PEPSI sign Letter of Understanding

PESHAWAR: The University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Peshawar and M/S Northern Bottling Company (Pvt) Ltd (PEPSI), Peshawar signed the Letter of Understanding on Friday.
Hassan Bin Aqeel, Head of Production, Northern Bottling Company (Pvt) Ltd and Prof Dr Iftikhar Hussain, Vice Chancellor, UET signed the LoU. Under the LOU, 2500 indigenous plants will be handed over to the UET to plant them in different sites of the Campus and will be responsible to take care of them including watering, fertilizing and horticultural requirements of the trees once they get grow.
The Vice Chancellor in his address stressed on strengthening academia-industry and government linkages, adding through this partnership, mutual exchange of student internship programmes and joint research and consultative programs will be extended between the faculty and researchers and professionals at the Northern Bottling Company (Pvt) Ltd.
To address the increasing challenges of environmental degradation due to deforesting and Carbon emissions, Hassan Bin Aqeel informed that the LoU is based on the spirit to bring in the expertise of engineers and professionals from the UET and Northern Bottling Company (Pvt) Ltd to help communities in relevant fields and stressed the students to focus on final year projects that serve the needs of the environment.
He said that the Company will welcome innovative solutions and research in key areas of water conservation, solid waste management and reducing CO2 emissions. Later, a tree plantation ceremony was also held.
Senior officials from the UET including Registrar, Dr Khizar Azam Khan, Provost, Prof Dr Sahr Noor, Manager, ORIC Dr Tariq Khalil and officials from Northern Bottling Pvt. Ltd. including Anees Akbar, Engineering Manager and Basit Khan Yousafzai, Assistant Manager Procurement were also present on the occasion.
