Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif (MNS), the supremo of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, has been a stalwart for Pakistan’s progress, prioritizing civil supremacy during his three terms as Prime Minister. His leadership has yielded tangible results – transforming Pakistan into an atomic power, developing infrastructure to international standards, and bolstering the nation’s global reputation as a progressive country.
Notable achievements under his prime ministership include implementing policies that spurred economic growth, created jobs, and increased family incomes; upgrading infrastructure to international standards; enhancing the nation’s global competitiveness; and elevating Pakistan’s reputation as a developing country while fostering international cooperation.
However, his bold stance and actions came at a cost, with multiple controversies and criticisms from opponents. Despite these challenges, Nawaz Sharif remained highly committed to Pakistan’s prosperity.
The 2018 elections saw Imran Khan assume the prime ministership, following Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification through a controversial judgment in Panama Papers case in 2017. Unfortunately, Khan’s tenure was marked by a downward spiral, with Pakistan teetering on the brink of bankruptcy. The nation felt the weight of his government’s inability to address core issues, ultimately leading to his ousting via a no-confidence movement in 2022.
The current government, led by Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, faces significant challenges in reviving Pakistan’s economy, strategic global position, and addressing the burning issues. While efforts are being made under his leadership to bridge the gap created during Imran Khan’s tenure, progress remains highly difficult.
Some critics argue that the PML-N, PPP, and other political parties have had sufficient time to resolve major issues since the end of Imran Khan’s government in 2022. However, it is essential to recognize that rebuilding a nation takes time. Three years may not be enough for a remarkable progress, but they are certainly enough for destruction – as Imran Khan’s 3.5 years in office demonstrated. Therefore, there is a need to be patient and wait for the present government’s efforts to yield fruitful results.
In light of the current situation, it is imperative for all stakeholders to consult with Nawaz Sharif without further delay, leveraging his vision and ideology for Pakistan’s development. By working together, a comprehensive strategy can be crafted to propel Pakistan forward – addressing the nation’s crises and paving the way for a brighter future.
It is a fact that the nation cannot afford further disastrous situations, and it is high time for all stakeholders to put aside their differences and work toward a common goal – Pakistan’s prosperity. By embracing Nawaz Sharif’s vision, expertise, and experience, a new beginning can be initiated, ushering in an era of growth, stability, and progress for the nation.
All this requires a collective effort and wisdom, with all stakeholders working in tandem to address our national challenges. By doing so, Pakistan can overcome its current crises and emerge as a strong, resilient, and prosperous country. The nation is demanding a broader approach that it is the perfect time to rise to the challenge and work toward a common goal: a progressive and prosperous Pakistan for all.
