Old industries also be granted subsidy on electricity, gas: Ayub Zakori

PESHAWAR: President Industrialists Association Peshawar (IAP) Ayub Khan Zakori urged the government to provide subsidy on electricity and gas to old industries just like the new economic zones in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He expressed this during a press conference at the IAP office along with his cabinet members here the other day. He said that the increasing prices of electricity and gas had significantly raised the production cost, pushing the old industries to the brink of closure and threatening the livelihoods of thousands of workers.
He emphasized that the launching of new economic zones and provision of incentives to them was a good initiative, but old industries should also be included in these incentives to prevent their closure and keep the economy circle running.
Ayub Zakori stressed that thousands of people were employed in old industries, but due to rising electricity and gas prices, it was impossible to operate the factories properly and therefore, the federal and provincial governments should play their due role in this regard.
