PESHAWAR: A significant controversy has surfaced involving the Vice Chancellor of the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar, Prof Dr Qaisar Ali, leading to widespread calls for accountability.

Sources have revealed that Dr Qaisar Ali has allegedly been operating a private engineering consulting firm, “Dr. Qaisar Ali Associates,” from a government-allotted house intended solely for residential use. This apparent breach of regulations has raised serious concerns about the misuse of public property for personal gain.

Insiders claim that the vice chancellor has been using the government residence to run his private business, taking advantage of the university’s resources and infrastructure for personal benefit. This practice is not only unethical but also violates government regulations and university policies.

“This is a clear case of conflict of interest and abuse of power,” said a senior official, speaking on the condition of anonymity. “The vice chancellor’s actions undermine the integrity of the institution and set a dangerous precedent.”

There have been growing demands from various quarters for an immediate investigation by the provincial government, with calls for transparency and accountability. Nearby residents have also expressed their frustration, citing frequent disturbances caused by the commercial activities and the influx of clients.

“The Higher Education Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa must take swift action to address this gross violation of rules,” said an official. “Such unethical behavior from our leaders can’t be tolerated.”

When contacted for comment, Prof Dr Qaisar Ali stated, “Doctors and engineers are allowed to practice privately in government-allotted houses.”

However, when asked to provide the specific regulation that permits this, he replied, “I don’t remember at the moment.”
