PESHAWAR: Spokesperson Pakistan Muslim League (Q) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Safdar Baghi has showed his big reservations over the recent presidential awards and said that it was just a drama to oblige the blue-eyed people.
In a press statement, issued here on Sunday, he said that he asked the government multiple times to award his late elder brother Asif Khan Baghi, who embraced martyrdom in a brutal suicide bomb attack in 2007, but the high-ups still didn’t respond positively, despite passing of many years.
“In the city of Peshawar, everyone knows about the social services and sacrifices of Asif Khan Baghi Shaheed, but the government has continuously ignored him every year and the highest national awards are given only to near and dear ones, not to genuine and well-deserved personalities,” Safdar Baghi added.
He further stated that the government had compromised the importance of such highest civil awards by giving them only to so-called personalities, and completely ignored the well-deserved educationists, scientists, and social workers – being the real and genuine face of the nation.
