Salma Rehmat honored with best international volunteer award

PESHAWAR: A ceremony commemorating the ‘International Volunteer Day’ took place, highlighting the accomplishments of Miss Salma Rehmat, a dedicated Afghan refugee volunteer residing in Peshawar. She was recognized for her remarkable efforts in promoting girls’ education and protecting hundreds of Afghan refugee children from child labor. For which, she was honored with the prestigious Global Volunteer Impact Award by VSO’s International Office UK.
The event, titled “VSO Volunteerism Impact Award 2023” was organized by Voluntary Service Organization (VSO) at a local hotel here the other day. Badar Munir Khan from Commissionerate for Afghan Refugees KP, officials of education department, Country Director VSO Sehar Afshin, PRDS Chief Executive Naimatullah, and PM MYRP KP Tariq Hayat attended the function.
Addressing the audience, Country Director VSO Sehar Afshin congratulated Miss Salma Rehmat and highlighted the organization’s commitment for the promotion of education among the children and youth, and empowerment of women through volunteer engagement in more than 24 countries of the world.
