Printer approaches ACE against Rs 40 mln embezzlement in BISEK

PESHAWAR: A local printer and publisher, Zafar Rehman has approached the Anti Corruption Establishment (ACE) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa against an alleged mega scam in the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Kohat (BISEK).

He has written a letter to the Director, Anti Corruption Establishment Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to launch an inquiry into more than Rs 40 million embezzlement in various tenders by the board authorities.

“This is to bring to your kind notice that despite the austerity introduced by the provincial government, the BISEK announced tenders thrice and changed the rules for five times. On our protest they relaxed the rules but changed them again the next day,” Zafar Rehman wrote to the Director ACE.

He said that many bidders also staged walk out on the occasion. “Despite our bid was the lowest, the tender was awarded to another party who had offered almost double bid. Also, we lodged a complaint but nobody listened to us. This has caused over Rs 40 million loss to the state exchequer,” the letter said.

It added that apart from that there were also a number of irregularities happening in the board for long and many officials were involved in this regard. It asked the ACE to initiate an inquiry into the issue and other malpractices and replace the corrupt officials with the honest and competent ones.
