Unhygienic food at restaurants irks citizens in Swat

SWAT: The availability of unhygienic food and drinking items in restaurants and other facilities has disturbed the residents in the district and they have demanded the concerned authorities and high-ups to take notice of the issue on emergency basis.
According to a survey by this scribe, the situation of available food and drinking products in almost all the markets is very miserable and there is no proper check on food and drinking businesses to maintain hygiene and cleanliness at their working and sitting areas, adversely affecting the locals’ health by utilizing such unhealthy foodstuff.
Shah Faisal, a social worker while commenting on the problem told this correspondent that there was no check and balance on food and drinking facilities in his area’s markets, while the condition of washing utensils was also very deteriorating at restaurants and food shops which required attention of the higher authorities.
A resident of Barikot on the condition of anonymity disclosed that the quality of food and drinking products at different restaurants was very poor and cheap, whereas food and drinks sellers also charged too much from customers which was another violation of law, therefore, the provincial government should resolve the issue on priority basis.
